The following are some bullet points contained in the sermon! Enjoy!
No man is captain of his own destiny.
We are all under the power of something.
Romans 6:16 says that as humans we are either slaves to sin or slaves to righteousness.
In the Garden of Eden, when Eve chose to eat the fruit she chose disobedience to God and obedience to sin.
Since then, every human being has been born into the slavery of sin. Sin leads to death and separation.
It affects all areas of your life, including your relationships.
But the good news of the Gospel is that we can now choose to present ourselves slaves to God.
When you commit your life to Christ and believe that He took the penalty of sin for you, you become a child of God, or as Paul calls it, a slave to righteousness.
What does that mean?
It means sin is no longer your boss or master.
As believers, we are free to live by faith.
And true faith results in obedience to God and His Word.
Galatians 2:20 says, “I have been crucified with Christ, it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me, and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God who love me and gave Himself for me.”
When Paul says we are free from sin, it doesn’t mean we no longer commit acts of sin, but the dominating power of sin has been broken.
If we lived as hard for God as we lived for our flesh, this world would be changed.
